Leadership Transformation and Governance

Help Musicians UK

Help Musicians is one of the UK's leading charities, supporting professional musicians at every stage of their careers.

Simon was engaged during a significant period of organisational transition, where the senior leadership team and Board of Trustees were reshaping the charity’s operational structure and future direction.

The organisation required experienced interim operational leadership to support the separation of Finance from other People Operations, strengthen governance oversight and help prepare the charity for a major phase of strategic development ahead of its centenary celebrations.

The role expanded beyond traditional HR leadership into broader responsibility across people services, IT, facilities and business operations.

Alongside operational transformation activity, the engagement evolved into supporting the organisation through a highly sensitive period of leadership and organisational change.

Working closely with the Chair, Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team, Simon helped ensure appropriate governance, operational stability and leadership communications throughout the transition process. This included supporting decision making, managing operational risk and ensuring the organisation’s people strategy remained aligned with its wider charitable objectives and stakeholder responsibilities.

The engagement also included oversight of GDPR implementation during a period of significant regulatory change, requiring coordination across systems, operations, governance and people services to ensure compliance readiness while maintaining operational continuity.

Simon brought a huge amount to the role he had when we worked together at Help Musicians. In difficult circumstances we had to steady the ship and quickly drive major personnel and cultural change. His broad set of workplace experiences means he brings a lot to the table.
